Kid's martial arts

What do we teach?

We  teach a Mixed Martial Arts Kids class that includes Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and Wrestling in which they can earn rank in. These styles provide a realistic approach to self-defense while still  providing the benefits of traditional martial arts.

Jiu Jitsu (Grappling) – Is a martial art that was developed so  that a smaller person can defend and overcome a larger person while on  the ground or transitioning to the ground. The focus is on basic  positions, escapes, sweeps, and submissions.

Kickboxing – Is a  martial art that was developed to defend against an attacker while  standing by using all tools such as hands, feet, elbows and knees.  Techniques are practiced through focus on proper stance, guard,  footwork, and combinations through various drills and pad work.

We  award rank in Pankration – which is the oldest and arguably the most  prestigious mixed martial arts in the world. Pankration is a Greek form  of martial arts that was in the very first Olympics. It combines all  weapons, physically and mentally, which is what we teach at NGSP. We are  affiliated the United States Federation of Pankration Athlima (USAFPA).  This organization supports two world organizations and regularly  provides opportunity for youth and adults to compete locally, nationally  and internationally.

How our Program Works:

Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing are very rewarding disciplines to learn, but the  concepts are also a lot tougher to pick up sometimes compared to  traditional martial arts programs. Because of this, we have a carefully  thought out introduction process that will give new members the tools to  succeed in our curriculum. We will build children's confidence while  teaching them realistic self defense techniques. Once the introduction  process is complete, they will immediately start learning drills,  techniques and games that will prepare them for their next rank and even  competition!
